Contributing to the Dubai Fitness Challenge

“I challenge you to join the Dubai Fitness Challenge” read the text message from Faz3, our beloved Crown Prince of Dubai, HH Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum encouraging us to join the Dubai Fitness Challenge initiative. Many of us received the message compelling us to join the noble initiative, helping Dubai become the most active city in the world and our residents, healthy and happy. Everyone aspires to be physically fit but often our work pressure and busy lifestyle don’t allow us to take care of our health properly and we keep on procrastinating the idea; for most of us what we lack is mere motivation.

Dubai Fitness Challenge is an excellent initiative to motivate residents to commit 30 minutes a day for 30 minutes from 20th October to 18th November 017. An ideal way of inculcating a habit is to judiciously follow a regime for 30 days and usually, it tends to become a part of our daily lives. We at Crowe Horwath endorsed the idea to further the cause and sent across a circular to all our 12 offices encouraging our team members to register themselves on www.dubaifitnesschallenge.com website and reduced the office timings by 30 minutes in order to facilitate them reaching home early by skipping the peak time traffic. This would enable them to make 30 minutes’ time and indulge in physical activity or exercises.

Saritha Periera working at our Business Bay office opines that with a relaxation of leaving the office 30 mins earlier, we gain around extra 90 minutes avoiding the peak time traffic. This has helped me plan my evening better and go for long walks with my children. Adjusting the office and school timings can actually save us a lot of time on a daily basis and traffic rush on the roads says Mr. James Mathew, Group CEO of Crowe Horwath in UAE & Oman. He said the concern of heavy traffic congestions on peak hours especially during school starting or ending time causes us spend a lot of unproductive time on the roads. This issue has been discussed earlier on various forums. Changing the school timing and giving an option flexible timing in offices, could earn us a considerable time which can be invested in our fitness and health. Dr. Khalid Maniar, Founder and Group Managing Partner said our people are our strength and it’s the people who have built this organization over the period. The health of our organization depends upon the health and prosperity of our people. We wholeheartedly support this initiative and are committed to making it a grand success.

They say a healthy mind resides in a healthy body. Physical fitness not only keeps you away from lifestyle prone diseases but increase our productivity and quality of life. We have also encouraged our team members to share their experiences on a weekly basis so that it’s a motivation to others as well and that’s the key ‘motivation’. We all are grateful to HH Crown Prince of Dubai for inspiring us.
